So when I decided to do a French degree, I realised that during the third year it was expected that you went to France. Am I the only one that didn’t realise that that time would present itself and we’d actually have to leave? Crazy shit, I know.
I am currently sitting in the kitchen of the lycee’s accommodation, drinking a cup of tea in my amazing union jack mug, eating and cup cake and watching Grey’s Anatomy in French. Pas mal, je pense. The accommodation isn’t so bad, it’s just in Roubaix, which is kind of a shit hole, well it’s not a shit hole, there is just nothing here! It’s not in the centre of town and it’s not a picturesque old French village like ‘Vieux Lille’ is. Hmmmm. I have applied to two professional housing accommodations, which are honestly the easiest option. Even though I would love to rent somewhere with other it’s quite complicated, at these professional housing places it’s secure and they basically help you with a lot (rent/APL (rent subsidy)). I applied to one by the main station (in the center of town) and on Friday one in old Lille which looks really nice, so I’ll be having a look at it tomorrow. Sophie applied there last last Friday and they offered her a room last Friday so I’m hoping that I get accepted. Moving all my stuff will be slightly traumatising but hey, it’ll be worth it, it’s kind of lonely here!
There are two assistants living in the free accommodation with me, Isra, a Spanish bloke who is nice (I’ve been talking to him on facebook…his English is amazing hhahaha so we’ll be best friends)...and I have yet to meet the Arab assistant, who is living here at the moment, but he hasn’t come back yet…or he’s asleep in his room…
ANYWAY, sorting out my bank account and my travel card tomorrow which will be a relief to do and get out of the way, then hopefully meeting Sophie and Hannah in Lille. I REALLY WANT TO GO TO THE CINEMA!!
Grand bisoux, I MISS EVERYONE xxxx
