capeeeeee SUPERMAN'S CAPE

Right, BIG FAT SOZ that I haven't blogged in ages, I have been uber busy/uber tired/uber blogger lazy.
Things I have achieve this week:
Went to Toulouse and had the most amazing 6 days with the family!
Got home safely from Toulouse even though there were AirFrance air strikes AND a unreliable airport shuttle bus.
Did my first two days of teaching which involved one terminale class and two seconde classes. The Seconde's were amazing and I laughed so much. I made them fill out a facebook information page for their partner and introduce them, then we played a 'guess the French celebrity' game, which they absolutely loved.
Yesterday I also babysat as usual which was hilarious and did my washing.
Oh and the most important news?
MY CAPE ARRIVED AND IT IS BEAUTIFUL.
Bon Weekend!!

Jesus fucking christ I'm in Angers

Bonjourrrrr!
It is Tuesday 25th October, 13.43pm, and I have been in Angers since Saturday. I have been having a COMEDY time. When I arrived on Saturday we had dinner (fail at an omelete...so it was scrambled eggs..) then went out to meet all her friends. They are all really lovely and funny and we drunk WAY too much. A pint of biere citron (yes a PINT) was 2euros something...so when I was on my third, it's obvious to say I wasn't feeling en forme. Anyway, Sunday we had a relaxing day (aka we couldn't do much/eat much as all the f-ing shops are closed on Sunday's..thanks France...thank you so much) but we went for a really nice walk along the river (hello middle age) and then watched Merlin (it gets worse..). Yesterday we went to Nantes for the day which was really cheap and quite funny. We got there for midday so Saz, Aussie and I went to find a galettes place and we had an AMAZING lunch, then it was pissing and pissing and pissing with rain so we came back early and lay in bed (sweet). Until....I went downstairs to make tea and I FELL DOWN THE STAIRS. Comedy...I think not. Basically the left side of my body is majorly bruised and generally chattered, however this morning it is only my arse which is in pain.
Sarah is currently giving me a demo on how to use a Tetley tea bag which has strings on each side of the tea bag to drain the water. It was beautiful. She's also wearing a cat dress and has a scarf on...so basically she looks like the most hilarious middle class housewife...on the shopping channel..
we're also listening to Zoey Deschanel (Saz helped me spell this.."it's D E S then Chanel"..)'s christmas album (I know..what fresh hell is this?) but it's actually really good and relaxing!
Shopping today, then I'm home tomorrow evening...then TOULOUSE! (I should really text Fabrice to remind him that I'm coming to visit...)
hope you're all falling down your stairs too so I'm not the only one that's in pain and has no dignity left
bisous xxxx

10.58 world is spinning

Bonjour, so went to Jutta and Seth's house party last night and I laughed SO much, it was insanely amazing! I also had a fight with a French guy about my accent, another LOSC fan (Lille FC) told me that Joe Cole was the Zinedine Zidane of England (actually insane) and Graeme informed me that in class today (with the other German assistant Stefan) that I child said "I AM ELF" aka I am 11 years old or Ich bin elf...was hilarious. Left at like 3.30am and got into bed at 4 ish. Now it's 11am and my train for Valenciennes leaves in an hour...must put on clothes and get on train. FUNCTIONING IS SO DIFFICULT.

Wednesday...took at nap from 6-8pm..pretty much sums up life

And so another week of observation has begun...this week has been more interesting and I'm beginning to get to know my classes and how things work. I also experienced my first canteen lunch in the school which was hilarious. When I say lunch, I mean 5 course meal...in school it used to me here's a bit of meat and some potato-looking substance...on Tuesday I had cheese with bread, salad, fish with amazing roast potatoes, fruit and coffee. AMAZING. But tbh it is needed to deal with teaching AND my inability to stop being hungry.
Today I did my first proper babysittinng job with 7 year old Duke and it was amazing! We did the reading in English like his mum wanted then we carved a PUMPKIN!! It was hilarious, as before now I did not rate my carving skills...now it's safe to say I'm Queen at carving!
ALSO got my bank card (finally) and it was christened at H&M...
Hope everyone is alive and eating proper meals unlike Cambridge and I...our laziness is somewhat constant so it's a baguette for dinner..or some carrefour sweets...living the French dream..

Thursday- BON ANNIVERSAIRE KERSH

SALUTTTT, so getting up at 6.30 was not too bad today. I had 4 observation lessons today and it was really interesting, I was with two teachers and their teaching styles really differ. It's interesting to see as sitting at the back of the class really shows me whether the kids are learning or not. In one lesson today, a girl was asleep on her desk..soo yeah...I can't wait to do that thing that Mr Jenkins used to do if people we sleeping on the table-he'd slam on the desk and say "SORRY AM I DISTURBING YOU"...lolz that's probably abuse or something...
I really love the Terminale Euro class (best at English-17-18years olds). They were asking me question and it was so cute as they were So shy, but they're all girls and really friendly so I think lessons with them will be fun. Seconde (15-16) however are basically little shits, except a select few who are really good! In a class today there was a boy that looked like he preferred to play football, but he was amazing, he knew all the answers and was really keen to learn!
Getting up at 6.30am was not too painful today, doing it again tomo but I finish at 10 so izz all good.

BON ANNIVERSAIRE KERSH...tu me manque beaucoup!!! (and Saz)

Off to cinema (surprise surprise) and maybe Brussels for the day on Saturday with Camb
bisous! xxxxxxxx

Hello school

Today was my first day observing at the school. I started at 8am. Insanity..pure insanity. I had to get up at 6.30 so I could get to the metro at 7! Anyway once I got there I didn't really mind as I finished at 11 so I had the rest of the day to totally what I wanted. Anyway, first class was Terminale (17-18 year olds) and they were fine. I was genuinely impressed with how much some of them knew and there was one girl in particular who was really good! Then we had a break and from 10-11, I observed a Seconde (15-16) lesson. It was a bit scary, they didn't really want to learn and their attitude generally was not amazing. However the teacher had really good control with them and didn't let them get away with anything, therefore the lesson went really smoothly.
Overall, scary but kind of exciting as this is the beginning of a journey (oh jesus).
I have the induction thing tomorrow, which is going to be SO SO boring as I've done nearly everything (including social security today)
argh
so tired...getting up at 6.30 is a joke

Sunday and I'm in love

My god I love Sunday's here, I just got back from the Sunday market and I bought a roast chicken, fresh bread, salad and strawberries...was incredible. Just at some for lunch and it tasted AMAZING. The market was so busy and it was so sunny, just walking around tasting food and being with the locals was uber cool.
Yesterday I was hanging like a bitch, the house party vodka nearly killed me, but I carried on like a trooper and met Anna and Cornwall for lunch which was really nice...I ate more carbs than I care to say but it did the job lol. Then we went to the park and I read vogue...it was so cliche but beautiful. In the evening Yank, Yutta, Leah, Sophie and I went to see Presume Coupable at the cinema and it was so depressing/long/tiring/shocking, basically about a guy who was convicted of being a paedophile because this judge was corrupt... needless to saw we needed a beer afterwards, and we went to bar solpherino and drank beers...well more than planned as bierre citron was only 2euros each! So obviously I had 4...not the wisest of choices.
I'm sorry liver
I truly am..
Going to watch Lille vs Rennes (I think) at the pub today...BUUTTTTTTTTTT!!! (goal in French not but..)

11.21am Carrefour vodka is a killer

Bonjourrrrrrr, I'm not feeling SO fresh this morning, but I have tea and a tea cake so all should be groovy in 10 minutes. The house party was really fun yesterday but it was quite far away! We had to get the metro (9 stops) to Bois Blanc then it was like a 5 minute walk to their house. Which I must say is pretty cool, it's really tall with two lots of stairs, and generally looks like ikea has thrown up in there, which is kind of has...as they did a massive trip there the other day. Before leaving I got talking to Seth, this American guy, so I invited him and his German housemate Jutta, and they were hilarious! She had a comedy German/Irish accent as she'd spent time there and it took us like an hour to work out. We obviously knew she was German but that extra accent twang thing was so confusing! Anywayyy they are comedy and I think we're meeting them for a film laaater.
Today: for 40 minutes I'm going to try and recover and piece my mentally scattered brain together, then go out t lunch with Sophie at the nice Moulin d'or place thennnn we're going to buy French vogue and go the free zoo which is by her house!! Then a film later!
It's so sunny and beautiful so we must spend the day outside!! (slightly wishing it would rain as I love France in the rain...I DID NOT JUST SAY THAT)
bisoux...a plus xxxxx

00.41am

Just got back from Erin's house party, was a lot of fun, but drank way too much vodka, lemon syrup and lemonade....not on it's own...like together...baguette

4 days later...

I have:
accommodation in the center of lille
a french bank account
a french phone
a baguette

how have I even managed to sort my life out and create a French one in 3 days?!!!

THIS POST CAN'T BE LONG...INTERNET IS TEMPORAL

THE YEAR ABROAD BEGINS

26th September 16.43pm
So when I decided to do a French degree, I realised that during the third year it was expected that you went to France. Am I the only one that didn’t realise that that time would present itself and we’d actually have to leave? Crazy shit, I know.
I am currently sitting in the kitchen of the lycee’s accommodation, drinking a cup of tea in my amazing union jack mug, eating and cup cake and watching Grey’s Anatomy in French. Pas mal, je pense. The accommodation isn’t so bad, it’s just in Roubaix, which is kind of a shit hole, well it’s not a shit hole, there is just nothing here! It’s not in the centre of town and it’s not a picturesque old French village like ‘Vieux Lille’ is. Hmmmm. I have applied to two professional housing accommodations, which are honestly the easiest option. Even though I would love to rent somewhere with other it’s quite complicated, at these professional housing places it’s secure and they basically help you with a lot (rent/APL (rent subsidy)). I applied to one by the main station (in the center of town) and on Friday one in old Lille which looks really nice, so I’ll be having a look at it tomorrow. Sophie applied there last last Friday and they offered her a room last Friday so I’m hoping that I get accepted. Moving all my stuff will be slightly traumatising but hey, it’ll be worth it, it’s kind of lonely here!
There are two assistants living in the free accommodation with me, Isra, a Spanish bloke who is nice (I’ve been talking to him on facebook…his English is amazing hhahaha so we’ll be best friends)...and I have yet to meet the Arab assistant, who is living here at the moment, but he hasn’t come back yet…or he’s asleep in his room…
ANYWAY, sorting out my bank account and my travel card tomorrow which will be a relief to do and get out of the way, then hopefully meeting Sophie and Hannah in Lille. I REALLY WANT TO GO TO THE CINEMA!!
Grand bisoux, I MISS EVERYONE xxxx

Finished packing....UHOH

I'm either super efficient or I've forgotten many many things..

4th August 22.08pm HAVE NOT DONE ANY PACKING. PANIC MAY BEGIN

Helllllllllooo/Saluttttt/Sup bitches
Ok so the family are here and I'm knackered. We've had such an amazing time, quick run through for your general knowledge/interest (no one gives a shit), they arrived on Tuesday and I went to pick them up from the airport no problem then we went to eat steak. Mum and Jack are staying at a really nice hotel and Tina is staying here as she booked her ticket later...anyway Tuesday we all went to Toulouse Plage which is a fake beach with loads of games and bouncycastle things for the kids, and Adam and Anais loved it, then we had lunch together and they went back to Castanet so Anais could nap. Jack, Mum, and I went to have cake after a nap then went to have dinner at the apartment which was so nice. We drunk and laughed and it was a really nice last dinner at the house. Today we went to Victor Hugo market in the morning and upstairs (from the market) we had the most amazing lunch!!! Then did some shopping and I found this amazing jewellery shop! I BOUGHT JEWELLERY CAN YOU BELIEVE IT. Then we had dinner and I am now in hell. I HAVE TO PACK ALL MY STUFF...I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN, I've bought so many stripey clothes/basically the whole of Zara and it's not all going to fit.
RIGHT I MUST START PACKING NOW.
NOW.
NOW.
NOW
I'm so sad to leave Toulouse, the idea of not seeing the family for a whole year (totally coming back next summer) is so depressing. I DON'T WANT TO LEAVE ADAM OR ANAIS
waahhhh
I can cry tomorrow. must pack now!

30 degrees and a perverted monk film

THE MONK FILM WAS SO WEIRD...so many arty shots... a monk who pretended to be scarred in the face so he wore a scary mask...then took off the mask and HE WAS A WOMAN...the main monk had this weird birth monk..HAHHAHAH BIRTH MARK***...and didn't know his birth mother..then went into his sister (who he didn't know was his sister)'s room and they had sex...then their/his/her mother came in and was like wtf your my son...then he stabbed her. ALSO this nun got pregnant and the mother superior locked her in a room with no water....and she died. I CAN'T MAKE THIS SHIT UP! Never going to a monastery again (because I go there all the time...) and never going near a monk/nun/masked person ever again..soz religion.
After this traumatizing 1hr40mins I met up with Alice and Julia and we saw Colombiana (yes two films in one day...)with Zoe Saldana which was quite good! She's a bit fit.

WAHHHHHH MONK'S ARE SCARY

31st July 'Amour de jeunesse'? more like never fall in love in paris...you'll die alone

SALUTTTTT
Sunday 31st July 12.31...cooking Toulouse sausage to eat for lunch
This weekend the family have gone to pick up Adam from Fabrice's parents and they are staying until tuesday so i'm home alonnnneee!! Yesterday I went into town to meet Alice and Julia. We had cake (ofcourse) and it was incredibleeee I ate lemon mirangue tarte again and it was perfect because the weather was SO hot and it was cool and sweet and sexxyyy. Then we went to see a film 'amour de jeunesse' at the Eutopia cinema which was so cute and quirky! It basically tells the story of this girl and boy who are in love, but he leaves for South America, we follow her life years later when she becomes an architect and falls in love with her teacher (I know how bloody typical), obviously Sullivan (her first love) returns to Paris and they get together secretly. Then one day she receives a letter that says that he has got a girl pregnant in Marseille and can't see her anymore as it's too painful and that one day they meet again. IT WAS SO DEPRESSING as the day before when they were together he was saying how he wanted to marry her and have children with her. However, it ended ''happy" as now she was able to move on with her life. ARGHHHHH so sadddd WAHHHH why can't beautiful french people end up together?
THENNNN we went to Entrecote, which is a steak restaurant where they only ask you how you want it cooked and nothing else! You get a salad to start with, then your steak and frites comes! It was incredible and so tasty...but I literally couldn't move afterwards. Came back to the house and the cat annoyed me for 2 hours by meowing so loudly as she wanted to go outside! She had spent the whole day outside, and I didn't want to let her out at midnight as she always sleeps in the appartment at night! (And I wanted to go to bed haha)
So yes, my Toulouse sausage is cooked and at 3 I'm going to watch 'Le Moine'- Vincent Cassel as a perverted Monk..GOOD TIMES. it's 30 degrees and I'm dying...IT'S TOO HOT!!!

28th July been sitting on BB a lot

big fat soz (Miranda quote...I'm not THAT insane) I haven't posted in a while, nothing much has been happening and I've been looking after the baby a lot! I have had a lot of fun with her this week, although she was a nightmare yesterday as she didn't nap and was so tired and grumpy. I only have 8 days left in Toulouse and I don't think I've realised that I won't be seeing the kids everyday! Sitting on BB later (this means babysitting not a soon to be lawsuit...) so I'll talk some more crap about myself then.
I leave you with the most beautiful picture:

3 course lunch and Alice's sunburn. 25th July 16.04pm

So it's pissing with rain in Toulouse. It' cold and has not stopped raining all day, what is this!!!??? OU EST LE SOLEIL?
Today I met Alice for lunch. I found somewhere really nice that did 3 courses for 12euros, (French food) and it was amazing!!!! I'm so full now and didn't expect the portions to be so big!! I ate: a asparagus quiche, then chicken with pureed veg and potatoes, then an apricot cake. WAS ENCROYAAABLLLEEE!! Alice got back from Biaritz on Sunday as was basically giving me the play by play. When she was walking towards me I noticed she was really tanned, but as I said that to her, she confirmed that she was incredible burnt and in the light I could see it, she was in so much pain just moving!! It was hilarious obviously and she is now going to be the joke of the week now that Juan has gone home :(:(
I'm going to collect the baby soon and then I'm going to cinema this evening, I love spending time with Anais as shes's such a happy baby, but I'm also missing Adam who has gone to stay with his grandparents this week. Pimousse the killer cat and I are also bonding, even though I changed my sheets yesterday and 10 minutes later found her asleep on my clean bed..
I'm leaving in 11days :(:(
and I have a cat hair up my noise bahhhh

samedi 23 juillet 2011

Amy Winehouse is dead and I'm sitting in my room in the dark trying not to wake this baby up...

Ok..Amy Winehouse is dead? I go away from Toulouse for ONE day and this happens, wtf?!!
RIP Amy Winehouse...no one every deserves to die after such troubles...

So....I'm sitting in my room which is completely pitch black as there is a sleeping baby in here...no idea whose baby but a baby all the same..I went to Albi today with Kerstin which was SO lovely and basically wanted to give the family some space as all their friends were coming over, I got back at 11pm and assumed they would all be in bed...however I got back and the party was still happening...therefore I went to hide in my room...which had a sleeping child in it...lol. Not that I felt like I was an intruder but I knew they didn't need me around...so I went out for the day to a historic village and I went to the Toulouse Lautrec museum! Looked at art...bought some postcards..was pretty standard.
UPDATE: the baby has been taken away as they are leaving....slightly awkward as I'm sitting on the floor in the corner on my laptop, I must look like a right psycho...anyway, the child has been taken home and I'm really hungry...this is a slight disaster, but take comfort readers in the fact that I now have a light on. So yes waiting for others to leave so I can eat...this doesn't look hopeful.
bon nuit...*stomach rumbles* (which many of you know is like every hour...but it's actually legitimately rumbling now.)

vendredi 22 juillet 2011

LAST FRIDAY NIGHT...not really BBsitting on a friday night...22nd July 20.42pm

SOOO the babies are in bed...therefore I'm attempting to type quietly but it's not really working!
I haven't blogged in a while (2 days=SUCH A LONG TIME) as I've haven't really been up to much/got into stupid situations...
On Tuesday I met with Juan, Julia and Alice and we had cake...you can see the photos below, it was amazing, i love the way French women just sit around drinking coffee, eating cake and bitching about everything from their husbands to the gardeners. Juan had a slight problem in the coffee shop as it was literally the gayest place on earth...there were flowered cushions for god sake. But he managed to say the F word in every sentence to assert his masculinity so lol..(bloody Americans..sorry Jess...BLOODY NEW YORKERS...even though he's actually from Ecuador...) ANYWAY...Then I babysat in the evening which was really easy as they went straight to sleep and I watched Harry Potter 3 in French (beautiful...just beautiful). Wednesday night I also babysat them and had the worst experience...Anais started to cry as Myriam shut the door and it was because she had lost her dummy...so normally you find the dummy put it in her mouth and she goes to sleep after 10 minutes of screaming (I'm the best au pair ever right?) So I went into her room and couldn't find the dummy...it was hell, I looked for 5 minutes then gave up and rung Myriam to ask where the spare dummy was...of course THERE ISN'T ONE. Myriam says that it's probably under the bed/stuck by the bed somewhere. Eventually I find it, wedged between the bed and the wall (how the hell did it get there?!!!!!!!) put it in her mouth and she went to sleep (eventually...) Then I got Adam ready for bed, which was a struggle BUT I DID NOT SHOW WEAKNESS and succeeded! He didn't get out of bed and they both slept for the whole night. Funny how I literally wanted to cry as without the dummy the night would have been hell...and you know what Anais was doing while I was weeping and looking for her dummy? Laughing and patting me on the head...she thought it was a game!!! Babies are so funny and cute...but when you're about to cry because you can't find the dummy and you see her laughing at you...you have to laugh as well (the weep in the bathroom afterwards haha)
Last night, we went for drinks as Alex and Marieta were leaving Toulouse (friends from language course), and afterwards I got the metro home then the night bus...AND GUESS WHAT? I got off at the right stop JOYYY...and yes I was stared at and followed half the way home by a drunk french boy, but hey...Toulouse tranport 3-2 Clara
I wonder if Harry Potter 4 will be on tonight...OH KNOW it's Sherlock...dubbed in French (oh Jesus).

Miranda is Queen

Amazing...I love Miranda...from Sarah's tumblr:

18th July Goodbye Harry Goodbye baguettes Goodbye childhood

CIAOOOOOOOOOOOO
Today I saw Harry Potter with Alice, it was simply impecccccccccc!!! We saw it in French and because we're students it was only like 4 euros! It was slightly difficult at the beginning to get used to the French, but after a while it was fine and I really got the hang of it. Except...the names are translated into French and wand is "baguette"!!! Not even "baguette de magic"...no just "baguette"...like bread!!!
Before the film we chilled around town...she was having a slight breakdown and everything paperwork and money wise was going wrong, but all was sorted, and I did some shopping while she had her breakdown in the bank lol. Found 2 dresses for 3 euros each, a cream lace jacket for 10 euros and a new bag!
I have just cooked dinner for the family which was a success (well they ate it...) and now relaxing this evening with a cup of tea (lol).
Tomorrow, Alice and I are going to a cake shop then I'm babysitting Adam and Anais AND possibly two other kids as their parents don't have a babysitter LOLZ...now that will be a challenge and by a challenge I mean suicidal and by suicidal I mean blogging like a bitccchhhh after!

SAAAAAAAAAAARAHHHH

This is what death feels like...then Adam threw up..14th July HAPPY BASTILLE DAY

I am curretly sitting on a swing set chair in Myriam's fathers garden. We left the house for the other parents this morning at 11am and made it here for lunch. We had the most incredible lunch; salad then roast pheasant and then I had a nap with Anais. The journey was quite quick on an hour, in which Adam felt car sick and then he preceeding to throw up (outside though). He suddenly shouted JE VAIS VOMIR and Fabrice slammed on the breaks and I literally jumped out of the car. He made it outside and threw up the gallon of water he had drunk before we left the house, saying that he was so thirsty...that obviously bit him in the arse eventually haha. Ok so let's rewind slightly...I went out last night and didn't return back to the house until 6.30am this morning. It was painful to say the least and to this moment I've only had about 3 hours sleep.
So LAST FRIDAY NIGHT, no just kidding...Wednesday night: the langue onze people met for pizza then we went out! After eating we were going to go to a firework display, but when we got there it was a bit dodgy so we ended up giving in and going to the pub in St Pierre. I'd just like to say, it was Alice's idea to buy pitchers of margheritas, and it was a crazy idea a that! Around 11, Julia started to feel really ill so eventually Alice and Juan took her home (we never them again that night)...turns out she had a kidney infection and went to hospital!!! She was soo ill and in so much pain, so I really hope she gets better. Anyway, so I thought I was stuck, but there were some new langue onze people and we all went out together...at about 2am we left the pub and radomly found Edmund from Christophe's class, and long story short we chatted to them, and then went to a club. Some random French guy led us to one and it was hilarious. We danced for so long and I think at one point one of the girls just dropped her whole drink and it smashed everywhere, but we were too smashed to even care. Anyway, Miriam (Austrialian girl I met, from Langue Onze) and I left at 5 to get the first metro. I got to my platform and it was literally all men...which was a bit weird but it was fine, I got to Ramonville safely and went to wait for a 62bus. OH MY GOD, I was waiting for the bus and this guy comes up to me and (honest to god), asked me if I wanted to spend the night with him, wtf, wtf, wtf, i was so shocked and was just like.... ummm no merci, desole. I was genuinely scared about what he would do next, but he simply said, it's a compliment to me and that it's a shame I didn't say yes (jesus christ my life). Anyway so it's 6am and I think that i'm about to get attacked and the guy COMES BACK and apologises and says it was inappropriate. By this point i'm just like ok merci....totally no idea what to do and again he walks away. Thank fuck the bus appeared! I got on the bus and got back to the appartment and basically collapsed into bed. I woke up 2 hours later as Anais was crying and I felt like DEATH. I got up and went into the kitchen, and Fabrice says, "oh clara tu est en forme" as in: Clara, you don't look like shit! Which was hilarious, we spoke about the night then I went back to bed for an hour and felt so much better. Still hanging like a bicheee but better (better than worse). So now you can see that Adam throwing up on the way here was not beneficial to any part of my life. I nearly threw up myself when it happened!!!
Oh god, so yes, attempting to recover and stay awake/alive!
Hope you've all had more than 3 hours sleep. Safe to say, never doing an all nighter again, i'm 20 years old and it was just TOO MUCH.
peace and blessings xxx

17th July 11.16am

So yesterday, I walked up a mountain in brogues (they are a type of shoes if you have no idea what they are...if this is the case..why are we friends?) I shit you not, a mountain with a little castle on top of it...a MOUNTAIN...in BROGUES...what the hell was I thinking. However, it was actually fine walking in them! The only down point was the grip. When we were walking down the mountain (as when one goes up one must go down...like quote from La Haine: it's not the fall you should be afraid of..it's the landing...something like that) so yes, so rocks (YES ROCKS) were slippery, but I didn't die so there's the light at the end of the tunnel...not the actual light because that would have meant I had died.  (what am I talking about). ANYWAY, we came back for lunch then again I spent the whole day lying by the pool attempting to be less white, and it worked. I didn't get burnt and tanned a bit more! Then in the evening Myriam's brother came round for dinner which was nice, he's really funny and we spent the whole time just laughing at their mum as all her sentences start with "well it's better in Spain/ in Spain...." (she's Spanish...otherwise that would be odd). Also, he has two little girls and they are SO cute, especially Sofia who is 17 months!
After an epic night sleep in which I dreamed about New York (weird)..I am now sitting on my bed packing my stuff. We are having lunch here with the family then driving home. Myriam and her mum are shouting at each other again, Fabrice says it's the only way they can communicate hahahahah it's comedy. Also it's pissing with rain, however (SINON< a french word i need to use more, means however) we've had 3 days of epic sunshine and burning skin weather (not mine mwahahha).
Sad to leave here but also glad to go back to Toulouse, basically to check my emails and sort out the school...SCARY...IT'S SO REAL NOW.
ALSO I NEED TO SEE HARRY POTTER!

15th July 19.27- dying from chocolate mouse overload...mousse? mouse? SARAH HELP ME

I have had the most relaxing day of my life. After a really good night sleep (not hard to do as I had 2 hours sleep the night before and by the night before I mean that morning) and then after breakfast we went swimming in the pool in the garden. It was so nice and I basically swam and sunbathed for the whole day- I'm tanned!! WAHAY! Fabrice is so hilariously burnt and there's me thinking that i'd be red as and dying. I mainly avoided the burning skin/flesh as I put on factor 30 like it was going out of style, I kid you not! We just went on a walk to feel the horses, initially I thought that they were going to be random horses, but we get to this paddock/field place and they start calling these names, and suddenly two MASSIVE horses appear. I nearly shat myself. Seeing a horses and I are not best friends, and I've never really ridden/touched them before. But these two were SO beautiful and friendly!! We fed them all the stale bread we had and they were so happy!
I am currently eating my chocolate mouse that we were given for dessert at lunch, but I was the only one who couldn't finish it, it's so sweet and chocolately that I can only take like 2 bites at a time...Fabrice/Mryriam and Adam all ate theirs in like 5 seconds WITH so much whipped cream. So yes, I'm attempting to eat more.
ALSO, I'm reading Little Women in French (Rosie, if you're reading this (which you should be) I hope you appreciate it!) I can understand it and it's a really nice read! I think next week I'm going to go into town and buy some books, I feel the needs to have French books by Hugo/Moliere etc that I can't read or understand, like any good (shit/incapable) language student.
ALSO...... I GOT MY SCHOOL FOR NEXT YEAR...but i'll wait until my next post to give you the details, and that's because there is no internet here and my mum has sent me the details in an emailed, as the French are weird and sent me the school information BY POST? The element of anticipation/excitement for my life (yeah right)...is totally pointless as you'll see all the info in the next post...as I'm posting all the blogs from this weekend at the same time...as there's not internet.
I NEED INTERNET
THIS IS GOOD FOR ME...COLD TURKEY
the one time I need internet...is the one time I don't have it. Brilliant.
Fucking French mountains...you can't be mad at it as it's so beautiful!
Peace and Blessings

Anorak

Sarah has just told me that her mum is making her take an anorak to Latitude...I said they were slimming.
This was her response:
"they're only slimming because they're bigger than anything else in the world and they go with NOTHING which makes it SEEM like they go with everything because they go with everything badly but an equal amount."

this is possibly the best rant ever...and yet...SHE'LL BE WEARING ONE FOR THE WHOLE WEEKEND

lassst friddayyy nighhttt...just kidding Tuesday night 12/07/11

Well I told you something bad would happen....and now I think it's 1-1 in my relationship with the Toulouse public transport system!
So I left around 8.30 last night and it was spitting...before I left Fabrice was talking about a massive storm that was coming to Toulouse tonight and I was like oh yeah that's bad, not think that i'd be in the middle of it in an hour!!! The worst thing is, I walked out of my room, looked at the parapluie (umbrella) and thought, oh no I won't need that....BOY WAS I WRONG. I met up with Juan, Alice and Julia at Carmes and we were SOAKED just getting to the metro station! Anyway we got to Cafarelli and saw Virginia walking down the stairs, she thought no one was coming so was leaving!!! Anyway, she came with us in the end! We walked to St Pierre, and I SWEAR in the sunshine the walk was like 2 minutes, however, this walk in the pissing rain was like 15 minutes and I was dying...my feet were soaked and so hair was so crazily curly...anyway! We got to the shisha bar and it was really nice and we had a good time! It was so cheap! 9euros for one pipe thingy (that was split between the 5 of u- 2euros ish each!) Then after that we went to the pub and I had this amazing beer drink called Monoco? Which is half a pint with fruit syrup in it!
Anywaaaaaaaaay, Virginia and I left at 11 to get the metro, and I needed to get the night bus at 11.30. Of course I got to the busstop just as the bus was leaving, so I ran to the other side and literally begged him to stop AND HE DID!!! It was a miracle!!! Myriam and Fabrice were impressed that he stopped when I told them this morning (after they laughed at me for about 20 minutes for being in the middle of the storm), because the night bus drivers are known for driving off the minute it's 11.30. The next challenge was finding my stop, which is the church, but it's always so dark I can never see it!!! Anyway of course I got off a stop too early and had to walk, which wasn't too far, but I got SOAKED....AGAIN. got back to the house and had a shower to increase my body temperature and then went to bed. Woke up this morning with my hair looking like I had a perm. Jesus.
Now, Adam and I are watching Pokemon (WHY IS BROCK CALLED PIERRE??), he's going to a friends at 12. So at 12, I'm going to shower/shop for food/pack for weekend, as I'm going out tonight! (god help me) There is a big Bastille Day festival and apparently we're doing an all nighter...oh dear.
bonne journeee!

12th July 15.56pm

2nd day of babysitting and Adam has a friend over called Naila, she's so cute, they're like little boyfriend and girlfriend!! When she knocked on the door, Adam ran towards it to open it!
Anywayyyy they played all morning, we went to get pizza for lunch, we've just finished watching Ice Age 1 or L'age de glace (lol) (yes we watched the 3rd one yesterday) and now we're watching Hercules. Well I am, Adam and Naila are chasing each other around with a plastic bow and arrow, basically killing each other, it's hilarious!!! And I'm just sitting here drinking a cup of tea watching them.
FABRICE HAS RETURNED WAHAY. I'm going to get Anais, peace outtt

11th July 11.01pm

Bonsoirrrrr
Today was the first day of looking after Adam all on my own and it went really well! We played games, cooked cheese straws, went to the park, watched Ice Age 3 (highly recommend, it's quality!) and generally chilled. In the park I managed to create a game in which he did loads of running and I sat down and sunbathed haha! By 5pm we were both so tired and basically asleep, which has made babysitting easy tonight (I hope...please don't wake up because I've said that). Tomorrow I'm looking after Adam again but with one of his friends Naela, who is so sweet, so hopefully they will play together and let me sit and do nothing haha.
Spoke to mother and Tina on Skype today which was hilarious as they got to see the kids and hear Myriam and Fabrice have a fight! good times!!
I am so tired, but enjoying the free evening time to watch American programs in French (Private Practice and that Erica program where she goes back in time...)
Tout a l'heure! off out tomorrow evening so hopefully then i'll have something hilarious to tell you...hilarious for you not me of course!

Back in Toulouse after a beautiful Sunday morning/afternoon in the mountains!
Now back in Toulouse at it's 29degrees, eating bread and sitting on the balcony.
I shall leave you with this picture that I got from Sarah's blog, it made me cry with laughter!

samedi 9 juillet 2011

Just realised how to upload photos (yes Sarah I'm that slow) :)

9th July 21.35pm

I've just looked on livescore for the womens quarter finals: England vs France, and France won 4-3 on penalties, bad times!!! Many of the England players are Arsenal ladies so I'm disappointed for them.
I've had a really fun day! This morning after breakfast, Fabrice, Myriam, Anais and I went to Corque, a closeby the castle in Avignon, it was so beautiful and pictoresque, and it was generally really nice to get some fresh air and see somewhere new. We came back and lunch time and had the best lunch EVER. We had roast pork with vegetables and salad, then birthday cake (belated birthday celebration for Adam) and the whole thing was incredible.we were sitting on the balcony all together and it was just..really nice! And, Fabrice's parents are so lovely, they are so nice to me and are always offering me food and drink! Then we all had a nap, during which I put Amelie on in my room and I felt like I was living such a cliche but it was too amusing to stop! Anyway I watched up until she met the guy then woke up when they were together after following the bread crumb trail (quality quality french film). At about half 5 Mryiam, myself and the kids went to the park and played, and I finally took a nice photo of myself and the kids!
We've just finished dinner, which was the most incredible home made quiche i've ever eaten. I'm feeling so tired from all this eating and generally being happy hahaha. I also feel like my french is getting better!!
peace and blessings...hope you're not all in on a Saturday night reading my blog (lol sorry)

9th July- still in the Mountains

Decazaville isn't what I would call countryside it's more mountains mountains mountains..
I'm watching Amelie after the most amazing lunch, could this be anymore French?
LOVEEE IT xxx

8th July- welcome to Decazaville

Ok, it’s 22.21pm on 8th of July and I’m in Decazaville or somewhere near there. We’re visiting Fabrice’s parents and I have literally had the most amazing night of my life. We had a painful-ish 2 hour journey, it was really hot and Anais was uncomfortable (but I managed to get one right on the French I-Spy game which was SO difficult!!!!) Anyway we arrived and his parent were so welcoming and we went straight out to dinner, as we’re walking down the road there is talk of the place being closed and I assume that it’s a restaurant. We turn a corner and walk into a village party with massive long tables, stalls selling amazing food and a live band. I was so shocked, I thought it would be a restaurant!!! We sat down, I met all of Fabrice’ parents friend (wasn’t really awkward, they were all so friendly haha) then we sat down and ate. (Oh in this part of France it’s 3 kisses…which is hilarious as English people normally don’t even want to shake each other’s hands!! So yes food, I ate this local speciality which was sausage with this potato dish with cheese on it…then I ate a whole crepe…and had a beer. Best night ever. There were live flamenco dancers and everyone was so happy! Even the baby was dancing!! I laughed so much with Myriam and it was really hilariously pictoristique! I said to her: “C’est une blague oui?” (this is a joke right) and then I said “C’est pour moi oui parce que je suis anglaise?” It was really funny and everyone started to joke that they were going to make me stand up and make a speech in front of the whole town.
Such good times, such good food and such good company!
Bon nuit from… (where am I again?)…AH YES Decazaville (I think…)

Peace and blessings xxxxx

8th July 2011

Possibly the best babysitting night ever! Adam whined a bit but they were both asleep by 9pm and then I watched UK shameless in French haha! Was my last day at the school today, so sad!!! I'm going to miss everyone, obviously I'll see most of them, but still...will miss Christophe haha!
Off to French countryside today to visit Fabrice's parents for the weekend, god knows how it's going to be...I hope they like me!!
Will write on a word document then post into the blog on sunday as they might not have internet,
peace and blessings
hope everyone has a good weekend!

7th July

20.52pm
babysitting (praying children sleep)
so tired
need sleep.

My ability to get the night bus astounds me (is that even a word)

it's 1am and i'm in bed...and tbh I walked into the apartment...hammered....like pink pantha...as i'm trying not to make too much noise...as soon as I open the door I see that all the lights are on and that Myriam and Fabrice are still wake....(it may seems early but the last night bus is 12.30am so yeah you get the picture)..i've have 2 pints and a margherita....wankered basically...in light weight terms. So chat with Myriam a bit, try not to see to hammered and stagger to bed...(which is now).
Tonight was actually hilariously amazing...we just went to a pub in St Pierre...with the usual lot (Juan, Kristen....) and there were two new people, Alex, a spanish boy who supports a 3rd division team that used to be really good (after an 1hr of football conversation and discussing how amazing Raul is) and Alice, a scottish girl who has just moved into Juan and Julia's host house. She has just done her 3rd year abroad in France and is studying at St Andrews, can you believe it!!!! So we were talking loads IN FRENCH  about year abroad etc etc! They were both hilarious and generally awesome people to talk to!
Such a fun evening! it's a miracle I managed to get the metro/nightbus...i'm pretty sure I fell on a guy on the metro and sent some people some illegible texts but hey C'EST LA VIE
I LOVE FRANCE
I LOVE ALCOHOL
need sleep, got school tomorrow!
tout a l'heure (may be sick any moment)

sorry if this post doesn't make much sense, can't really hold my head up and i've had too many margheritas (1)
WHAT IS MY LIFE
now i'm sneezing ridiculously loudly and trying not to wake the kids

6th July

SALUT PEEPS,
So yesterday (tuesday) I went to school as normal, had lunch with the newbies then went to supermarket to get stuff for dinner as I cooked! At 5pm, I picked up the kids for the first time from childminder/activity club thing and it was fine! Of course it was about 40 degrees (35- still...not that much of an exaggeration!) Anyway went to pick Adam up first and found him eating a snack, which is a bit of baguette with a chocolate bar inside...wtf??? weird french children, then I got Anais, which took about 15 minutes as her childminder would not stop talking lolz. Got them home and then started on dinner! They were so calm! Adam just watched tv and Anais played with her toys for like an hour and a half! it was amazing lol, so I got the spagbog cooked...easy peassyyy!! (peacccy? no idea how to spell..SARAH HELP) Myriam and Fabrice got back at like 6.45 and she was so really sorry that they were really late haha, I was just like don't worry haha! After dinner (which they ate...and liked!) they put the kids to bed and then went to the cinema...Adam got up once after they left to say he was thirsty..so i gave him water then told him to go to bed and he did haha.
Nowwww i'm at home, it's 14.37, Anais is napping, and i'm eating a baguette with cheese and watching Kim Possible...sweeeeeet life!
Sorry to be boring, but am going out tonight so hopefully something hilarious will happen (aka happen to Juan)!

3rd July. HOW IS IT JULY ALREADY

Saluuutttttttt! I have been busy this weekend!! Friday, I went to school as normal, then Ida (my new Swedish friend!) and I went to Pont Neuf and did some sunbathing! I felt so ridiculously tired on Friday evening, because of the late night on Thursday so went to bed really early, also because I had to get up really early on Saturday morning as I went to Carcassone! (beautiful village outside Toulouse...castle...church...you know the deal). So yes, we met at school at 8.45am, so I had to get up at 7.30am (argh what a hard life), but it was ok as I had loads of sleep. I bought a pain au chocolat and sat outside the church waiting for the others and feeling very french haha (because all french people carry croissants and sit outside church's...lol) ANYWAY, so we got in the bus thing (you can see that my English is deteriorating) and we had free time until 2pm when we had a tour of the castle/church. We split of into groups so Ida and I went with Matts (a hilarious old Danish guy, who is Liverpool FC supporter...SIGH), Sonja (a teacher from Germany) and Kirsten (possibly the funniest 35 year old I've ever met as she acts like a 20 year old)! So we looked around the old town and had lunch, then met back with the others. Long story short...it was boring and I got to know the "youths" ahhaha, 2 spanish girls, one australian girl and some blonde guy, (all under 18 hence youths) and they are hilarious. Due to this new found friendship with people that have more exciting lives than me (argh fml), we decided after getting back from the trip to out. I'M ACTUALLY QUOTING WHAT CAT (not the evil animal, the australian girl lolz) SAID: *cough cough tragic Australian accent: "We're going to get pizza, then go to the river to drink and then maybe a pub". Ok, I'm sorry, am I tragically old...or does that sound so trampish. Well it does, but when we got the river and sat on the steps like every other young french person in Toulouse, it was actually really fun. We were drinking beer and telling racist jokes and talking to french people, so social...and yes so illegal...lol. We walked Cat to the metro and on the way there was a ginger kitten stuck on a windowsill of a 2nd floor flat window (I shit you not...or what the actual fuck as Davies would say). During dinner, Juan (bloke from Ecuador/New York) was telling really racist jokes (What do you call loads of black guys on the moon? an eclipse....STOP LAUGHING YOU RACISTS) so I said to make up for all the jokes, he would have to do a good deed. AND HERE WAS THE DEED. He was drunk enough to believe when I said that he could save the cat, mon dieu! He stood at the bottom of the building and meowed...and the kitten actually considered jumping...and let me tell you , he would not have caught it! anyway all the French people were looking and I had had a bit to drink so couldn't stop laughing. ANYWAY, after walking Cat to the metro station we went back to the same place to a pub (the kitten wasn't there anymore...dead or saved...) I had a beer and a tequila shot...and if you know me well you know that I was basically on the floor. (Rudman I'm going to deny anything I said I did in the text you got OK?) we all had to leave at 12.30 to get the last metro and I needed to get the night bus. I managed to get on the metro and find the night bus AND I got off at the right stop (thank god for Fabrice's directions) and got home safeeeee! I was so drunk though and felt so sick and the only thoughts running through my mind were DON'T SLAM THE DOOR AND DON'T THROW UP.
So here I am 12.34pm sitting on balcony, Adam is spraying me will his water pistol and Anais is crawling around on my feet. OH and we went to the park today, (Myriam, Adam, myself and Anais) after looking around Castenet, and it was so much fun, I missed parks, why don't we still go there...oh yeah because we're not 15year old emos who deal drugs....AH TO BE YOUNG AGAIN. (Mum I never did this)
also, I cba to spell check this...so yeah...Norwich you can list all the mistakes and write them in a comment, and i'll tell you where to go in the reply haha

tout a l'heure xxxx

quick note

I love how hopeful and optimistic the post before "never having children" is...
"oh just putting the kids to bed...will blog after...lalaallaa....so simple"

2 hours... 1 book...1 screaming baby....1 sneaky child later...
I'm still that optimistic person.
yes
yes
NO

NEVER HAVING CHILDREN 22.32pm

Well that's slightly extreme, but my god putting the kids to bed was so difficult.
Started with Anais, tried to put her to be at 8pm, but she was screaming so I changed her nappy and tried again, she screamed and screamed and screamed so I gave her the dummy and shut the door and after 10 minutes she went to bed. Yes that's right TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. She woke up an hour later for more milk and more screaming, so I gave her the dummy and shut the door again. She, to this moment, is still asleep and I'm praying to God it stays that way. OH and I just threw that cat (literally) out the door because she was MEOWING too loudly (fuck loving the cat Sarah, IT IS EVIL) anyway Adam was next. He literally gave me EVERY excuse in the book! "oh if we do this i'll go to bed" etcetcetc I had to read the whole of a f-ing book with him (48 PAGES) and the after lots of calming he went to sleep, 2 hours after his bed time but hey. AND NOW I'm sitting on the balcony, in the dark, with killer Mozzies, praying neither of them wake u and that Fabrice and Myriam come home NOW. also, some arse hole upstairs is watching what only can be described as the 'worst of xfactor'. Mother just texted me saying well done and that it's the first time and it can only get better...which is hopefully true.
It's strange...when Ana was crying and clearly upset and distressed, I felt like crying too, it was awful, I felt so mean and horrible making her cry...god...bloody wolf.
Anyway, yes outside in the dark getting eaten alive.
BACK TO NON CHILD RELATED TOPICS:
language classes are going really well, I have so much fun in them and laugh a ridiculous amount and my teacher, Christophe, is really good, and funnily comes from Lille, so we were chatting about year abroad and he was bigging up Lille, calling it "ma ville" = "my town" and I kept mocking him from this disagreeing that it wasn't HIS town.  Also had lunch today with some of the course mates and will do again tomorrow, they are all really nice and we were laughing at general Frenchness and how we are all inadequately prepared for French life.
I need a beer so badly...or a shot of vodka
STILL LIVING IN FEAR IF THE BABY WAKES UP
what is my life?
lolz
Tina, stop hating on da English yeah, ma mind is well confused at da moment!
LOVE TO ALL (hope it made you laugh...someone should be...)
PEACE AND BLESSINGS XXXXXXXXXXX

28th June

BONSOIRRRRR, so I've just sat down after Adam has been blowing bubbles at me and by that I mean he has basically been giving me a bubble shower, because he's a 7 year old and enjoys doing things that annoy you.
I changed classes today and I'm so glad I did! It is a class below the one I was in and most of the people are the same level as me, and the teacher isn't bad looking so there's a silver lining! So yes we discussed the environment and the moving of slovenian bears to France, god knows why, but there you go that was the topic. The class is really funny and I laughed a lot. There is Roberta who is Brazilian, and her boyfriend, some americans, a guy called josef and another called David, and a Japanese woman who is really funny called Choko. Anyway at the beginning we did a listening and I basically had no idea what was going on but after I while I got the hang of it, and managed to blag my way through questions, before the break we did a debate which was also tres drole, basically shouting at each other and no really knowing anything about this bear issue. Bears en francais is 'ours' which you pronounce as it's written...like ours on a boat...which is a bit unnatural and sounds stupid. I bought my lunch then came back to the apartment for the rest of the day. I did some cleaning, hung the washing out etc...then found the french Disney Channel which is AMAZING, kim possible and spy girls in french was so entertaining! So yeah watched that and drank tea for a couple of ours haha. It was not very sunny today and is now really cloudy, as it's preparing to rain tomorrow...I saw from people's status'/tweets that there was loads of thunder/lightening//hail! I'm really missing the tennis in London! Can't believe the William's sisters got knocked out!!!! But gutted for Wozniacki! I love her and her Stella McCartney/Adidas tennis outfits! Anywaaaaayyyy, listening to Adam's read a book and watching Anais get yogurt all over her face....PEACE AND BLESSINGS xxx

le premier jour

BONJ, well today was my first day at the language school and was really fun! Fabrice helped me get there and now I know what I'm doing! The metro especially is really fast WITH AIRCON (take that London underground!) SO yah, I arrived with the other newbies and we all had a talk then went to our separate classes. I am in the 2nd highest and was the only new person, everyone was really welcoming but it was a bit scary and I think the standard is a bit high for me...I spoke to the teacher and I might change tomorrow, there's no point being in a class where I'm a bit afraid to speak because everyone is amazing and I feel inferior lol. There is one guy who is already fluent in French and just answered all the questions (not that I'm complaining) but yeah it's weird....what can he possibly learn? So yes I may change but I may not. I want to improve but I want to be comfortable...hmmmm. I made some friends and especially with a girl from Barcelona..we were basically laughing at the weird American girl...who we actually lost after our lunch out haha.
After lunch and another quick talk, we finished and I did a bit of sight-seeing...saw le Capitole (big palace thing) and then walked along the river, also ate an apple pastry...was AMAZING (took a photo obvs)
Anyway, I'm back at the apartment, massive headache and really tired. AND I HAVE HOMEWORK TO DO arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I really don't know how I did 5 hours of lessons a day.
Did I mention how hot it is. IT'S SO HOT. I'm dying... my body is really not used to this weather
I SHALL BE TANNED AND I SHALL DRINK LOADS OF WATER.

AUSSI, soz for typos...Anais is typing too :)

J'arrive a Toulouse!

So. I am in Toulouse! Currently Anais is climbing all over me as she wants to type. She's saying "da" to me and I'm saying it back...what a beautiful relationship.
ANYWAY got up at 3.30am...queued for two hours (thanks EasyJet...arseholes!) and I arrived in Toulouse at 10am. Fabrice picked me up and drove me back to the appartment where I was met by Myriam, Anais and Adam. I started speaking French straight from leaving the airport and it was crazy, obviously with some sentences I wasn't making sense but mostly I could converse! I feel like I've improved already and it's only been 10 hours. So I arrived and starting playing with Anais and Adam, and then we had breakfast. George you will be so proud. I have a croissant and nearly died of happiness haha. We were chatting and laughing at Adam then I started to unpack. We have lunch at midday-ish (an epic French salad..just epic...beautiful. I never want to leave this place)...then I had a nap. Woke up and Adam's party started. God knows how I managed to bond with these crazy 8 french kids, but I did and it was so much fun. We made this marble adventure thing..it was so difficult but in the end we succeeded...then onto lego...lots of lego. ANYWAYx now sitting on Adam's bed with Anais on my lap and we are writing this beautiful story...you can hear the violins can't you. I'M SO TIRED. SOZ SARAH BUT PICKING PRIMARY SCHOOL KIDS WAS A BAD IDEA. Having dinner, then an early night because it's learning time tomorrow! (I start my French course!)
PEACE AND BLESSINGS XXXX
